Siemens Applauds Employees With Incentives Programme
Leading communications company Siemens Enterprise Communications Ltd has launched an employee reward and recognition programme in conjunction with leading specialist Capital Incentives & Motivation.
The ongoing programme, named Applause, was developed to recognise extra effort from employees in achieving company objectives as well as empowering managers to reward members of their team. It also aligns with a strategy to bring all employee schemes under one recognition banner.
The scheme is targeted at 1,500 employees across the organisation, of which 300 are managers. To earn awards, staff have to excel in any of the following five key business drivers:
• Enhancing customer satisfaction
• Driving financial performance
• Supporting people engagement
• Process improvement and innovation
• Excellence in teamwork
If they do, managers are able to award points from a fixed budget – with 100 points equalling £1. As well as individual awards, there are quarterly and annual prizes for the top performers in each category.
Applause uses Web-Centive, Capital Incentives’ online points banking system, which allows participants to redeem their rewards from a catalogue featuring more than 22,000 items of merchandise. Or if they prefer, they can exchange their points for Capital Bonds multi-choice vouchers, Capital Vouchers Direct, a range of store specific vouchers and Capital Experiences which offers a wide selection of activity and leisure days.
The whole experience is made simple for both the employee and the organisation. After an award has been made, the recipient is notified via a system driven email from the manager advising them in which area they have excelled and inviting them to visit their online account. Participants are then given an ID and password so that they can log into their account, see personalised messages from their manager and keep track of their progress.
The full administration of the scheme – including updating employee data, providing statements, fulfilling awards and preparing tax reports – is handled by a dedicated account team at Capital Incentives.
The design studio at Capital Incentives also created all the communications material to support the scheme, including the launch brochure, newsletter, certificates, email templates and a branded website.
Siemens has been delighted with the success and smooth running of the programme, and HR Manager at Siemens Enterprise Communications Sally-Anne Borrill recently commented: “We have been really pleased with the roll out and the impact this has had on the business. The scheme was well received and easy to use and we have had lots of positive feedback from our employees with over 1500 awards given out through the Applause system in 2007. Applause has also significantly impacted on our Gallup Employee Engagement Survey results for 2008, with the question on recognition being our highest improving question year on year.”
